All retailers experienced a wet cat and dog food shortage in early 2022. Aldi and other retailers received fewer pallets of wet pet food for various reasons. Part of the shortage was because of COVID-19, but the main reason for the shortage was a major accident in an aluminum manufacturing plant.
Since the wet food cans are made of aluminum, wet pet food production was severely limited by this accident. The shortage has been resolved as of 2023, so you should be able to find plenty of wet food at your local Aldi.
