Propane is used for grilling, weed killing, and other applications. Once your bottle is empty, you’ll either need a refill or get a full bottle. But how convenient is it to get a bottle or a refill? Does Circle K sell Propane?
Yes, most Circle K stores do. Some have a Circle K Propane exchange, while others will only refill your empty bottles.
In this article, I look at how Circle K sells Propane and what you need to be aware of when transporting a full bottle of Propane from Circle K to your home.
Does Circle K Sell Propane?
Circle K is not always a convenience store on it’s own, but it can be or connected to a gas station. However, not all (but most) gas stations sell Propane, as it’s pretty different from the gas you need for cars, vans, trucks, etc.
Fortunately, most Circle K stores sell Propane. However, how you buy Propane in Circle K can differ from store to store and location to location.
How Do I Buy Propane In Circle K?
You cannot walk into a Circle K store and pick up a bottle of Propane like you would pick up a bar of chocolate.
You will need to ask a staff member for assistance as they will have to do one of three things (depending on which service the store offers):
- Exchange your empty Propane gas bottle for a full one from their locked gas cage,
- Inspect and refill your empty Propane gas bottle from their big Propane tank (which you will usually see next to the store, sometimes behind it),
- Or get a new bottle for you if you don’t have an empty one (not many Circle K stores sell Propane that way, though).
What Is The Circle K Propane Exchange?
Many Circle K gas stations have a Circle K Propane Exchange. If the store has this exchange program, you will notice a locked cage with Propane gas bottles next to or behind the convenience store part of Circle K.
What it means is that you can take your empty Propane bottle to Circle K and exchange it for a full one instead of refilling your empty bottle. Of course, you will have to pay for the fresh Propane gas – but you won’t have to spend money on the actual bottle again.
Do I Need To Have An Empty Bottle To Get Propane At Circle K?
It depends on your local store. Usually, you do need to bring your old, empty bottle.
Many stores will only sell you a full bottle if you offer an empty bottle in return (which needs to be of the same brand and size you will buy). If you do not have an empty propane gas bottle, you need to find a local propane gas dealer to help you.
How Do I Safely Transport Circle K Propane?
You must safely transport your Propane bottle, as gas can be dangerous and cause serious injuries.
The tank needs to be in an upright position. Under no circumstances let it roll around in the back of your car. Use cardboard or other objects to make sure it does not fall over or move around too much.
It needs to be upright because these bottles have a safety release valve – which only works when upright.
You can buy specialized tank stabilizers to help with keeping the Propane bottle upright.
Final Thoughts
Circle K is a good propane gas source as long as you have an empty bottle to refill or exchange for a full one.
Make sure you have the means to transport a full bottle of Propane safely. If you don’t feel sure about this, then you could get Propane delivered to you by a specialized Propane dealer.
